Data Services
Sometimes you may have the need to transfer or store data
off of your own network. Comstar’s data services make this
easy.
Safe Data
There’s no question that a recent backup of important
information is vital for both business and personal computers.
Unfortunately, backing up is one of the first things we let
slide only to find out how valuable it really is when it’s
already too late. Had you done a simple backup, you could have
restored your lost work simply and easily, saving you time,
money and countless headaches.
Why do we let something as important as a data backup slide
when we know how important it is? Because most backup methods
are costly, difficult to administer and use, take time and
effort, and do not guard against major disasters. You usually
end up failing to backup simply because you’ve run out of
time, energy, or even tapes!
SafeData from Comstar offers a simple solution to all of
the problems with current backup systems. SafeData is easy to
use, and will save you time and money. And because it’s one of
the most reliable backup products available, it will leave you
with a feeling of confidence in knowing that your data is
backed up and available when you may need it most.
SafeData is a tapeless backup program that encrypts and
stores your data on Comstar’s secure data storage servers
instead of using diskettes, tapes or portable drives. Because
the data is stored offsite, it insures your data will be safe
even in the event of a major disaster, such as a fire, flood,
tornado or earthquake. There’s no need to purchase any special
equipment or supplies, you only need access to the Internet.
And the best part is that once you’ve set up the SafeData
backup software, you never have to tell your system to run a
backup. It’s automatic. You will have peace of mind knowing
your data is there when you need it. FTP
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is designed to move
files from one place to another and is more reliable than
email for moving large files. Its most common use is to allow
your customers to send files to you, allowing them to move
data at a high speed to our servers. Likewise you can retrieve
the files at a high speed from our servers. Of course the
process can be used in reverse allowing you to send files to
your clients.
A basic FTP account provides for a username and password to
protect the site and storage for up to 100 MB of data.
Typically once the files are retrieved they will be deleted
from the FTP server.
Some businesses have a need for repeated access to large
files. Placing those files on an FTP server provides a way to
share those files outside the office. In this case the files
are not deleted after retrieval. For large storage needs
additional disk space can be purchased.
